It's ironic only if you don't think about the problem. Increasing the efficiency of energy clients will both reduce global warming and reduce the price of energy. And pump $'s into the economy and reduce the trade imbalance (funding the ME with debt).

But it would also lower profits for big oil... and they are the Bush/Cheney constituency. Any irony there?

Not everyone believes that higher gas prices are a reasonable solution for global warming. I personally do not.

We need a solution (or probably a combination of several) that keeps transportation costs low while reducing emissions.
