And if the US stops providing the global "public service" of guaranteeing the free flow of oil from the Persian Gulf? What would happen if the US totally withdrew its military from the region and left them to defend themselves from those who would either desire to disrupt that flow (and destabilize the government and economies of those countries), or nations that would attempt to balkanize the region by signing exclusive oil supply contracts with specific producing nations??
