It might have been nice if Nixon told the American people that back in 1970-1971. But I suppose it would have been bad for troop morale. Better to have them die thinking it was for a noble cause than have them discouraged. And one has to wonder how the two million Cambodians felt about permitting the "domino theory" to advance as far as their country.
