I am not jealous at all.I mean why do all the Christians come from Christian families and countries; and all the Muslims come from Muslim families and countries. That is pretty much 2+2 to me???? . Well, it is not quite 100% true, but I will concede that some "prejudice" is just about 100% the result of formal training. Or more broadly, our outlook is formulated by our environment and peers. As the branch is inclined, so shall the tree grow.I am one of the few in the world to never have been indocrinated as a youth (my parents never indoctrinated me) Indoctrination is also called teaching. I suspected that, but was too polite to say anything. Of course indoctrination can be in error. Perhaps your parents were too afraid of making mistakes. They needn't have worried. It is too easy to say Bush was ignorant and Clinton was good and smart. Up to a point. But would a smart man have taken a twinky into personal er, confidence in the office where he was doing business? Who is the real risk taker here, B or C? And there are many who are less educated than you and I, for instance our famous posting friend Michael Bidder, who would probably readily admit that he has less formal education than us, without batting and eye or a trace of self conscience. But they are decidedly more pecunious than you and I put together. Another two to ponder are Bud MacDougall (grade eight), and Conrad Black. No post secondary education. Bud was chairman of Argus Corp. and Conrad you probably know about. So who is smarter? There are some exceptions to the rule stupid = rich. jackjc allegedly passed his courses and he has a few bucks. At least a few more than I do. He did not get 100% in his exams, nor was he invited to the physics chair at princeton, and he does not have as much money as Bill gates, but at least it demonstrates that you do not have to be stupid to accumulate some shekels, but nor is it guaranteed that either stupidity or genius leads to the dollar Coming back to Mr. C. Would he have got us out of Iraq, or improved the situation over there without going there in the first place.. and prevented 9-11 .. really? And de shrunk the dollar, and prevented the housing slump.. etc.. you credit these demos with far too much hypothetical magic and diss Mr.B far too much. After all he got an MBA from Harvard. How stupid can he be? I know, you doubt that MBA. It was bought. Maybe. How much brains does it take to do that? hmmmmmm... they still have not proved he did it.. so he has to be wily at least.. I will admit he is not refined. I will admit he does always express himself well on the dias. But try it sometime. It is a lot harder than it looks. I don't know that my IQ is much higher than his, whilst my modes of self expression sound a tad more intellectual. One of smartest man I ever met never finished high school and if he ever read all he did read were dime store novels. He was a construction worker. Happy as a clam to do that. Knew a women in high school who finished grade 13 with 96% and put herself thru U of T on scholarships, without paying a cent in tuition, books or residence from her own labour or a student loan. With what she said were "average marks". Never wrote a book. Became dietitian and finally a housewife. Knew a fellow who taught himself to machine language program and wrote part of the Commodore 64 operating system by the time he was 16. Yes Jack Tramiel got him to do that, and he did not pay him any significant fee either. He became a Radio Shack salesman. Part time programmer, no significant income. I know another who developed as a technician for very low income 3 of IBM's most significant inventions. The dot matrix printer, the ball selectric typewriter, and the disk drive. And he invented two sorting systems for digital computers whose efficiency has not been exceeded in 33 years. Doesn't even work for IBM today. As a matter of fact I doubt that they would hire him. I will agree with you on one thing. Our best people don't lead. They don't get ahead in business, and often they don't become famous at all. The key to getting head depends on a number of things. For one thing the main social skill that appears to be needed is psychopathia. The ability to lie, cheat, steal and injure others without conscience. This way you can make sure competitive employees whose ideas you steal, are bad mouthed with the administration and drummed out of the organization, in order that you advance. A similar principle works in society. If you can make business deals that you cannot be sued over, but largely cheat the other party, or accumulate funds solely to yourself, and gain power by misrepresentation, I will guarantee you success in business. It happens all the time. A psychologist from Canada developed a test for psychopaths which is unerring. It is a 40 point introspective question and answer test given to prison inmates. Real dangerous psychopaths, who by the way are not necessarily killers, score about 34 and above out of 40 on this test. Normal people, or the great majority of the population score about 15 or less. Highly successful businessmen tend to score near 30 and above. Their most refined skill it appears is a lack of conscience about bad acts, and the tendency to have insigth into how bad behaviour can profit an individual and is a logical choice. Most of our business and political leaders would fail the Hoare test with flying colours. They are cold, calculating, consienceless liars, and they are out in any business deal, for one purpose; to do you in. I am proud to say I am not a superior businessman. It is not organizational skills I lack. I have a conscience. It holds me back. EC<:-}
