The Alaskan suicide rate is twice the US national average.
There are a lot of variables concerning statistics such as suicide. It could, in addition to climate and sunlight, have to do with long standing genetic tendencies. I don't see the stats for Iceland right offhand, but the alcoholism rate there is extremely high.

an interesting list, to say the least.

If you take anything to an extreme you've got a problem. If you take a Calvinist "no fun" policy to an extreme you're going to have a very unhappy life. I don't believe in immoderate enjoyment, but I do think it's very important to enjoy yourself.

When you are dying, or think you are, it's good not to regret anything. Having been in the position recently, I can tell you I regretted almost nothing- only the time I would miss in the future with my family, but very little in the past.
