Ann..I think that had Gore been president in 2001 he would have gotten rid of the Taliban and put enough troops and money into Afghanistan that the country would today be thriving and secure, unlike the Booming Opium Factory that it has become under Bush. THAT would have done more to influence change in the Middle East than anything the Neo-cons could have imagined. As far as McCain being DOA with the Republican Base.. maybe you should tell all the former Bush operatives that are now working for McCain that.
