A 14-year-old girl was raped, stabbed 17 times, and left to die. Two suspects are in custody. The investigation led officers to the house of one of the suspects.. Sheriff's deputies says they're looking for clothing, blood stains, and a knife used in the attack. The Ford Taurus parked in the yard is also reportedly of particular interest. Police say they may have used the car to take the girl from her home. Hidalgo County Sheriff Lupe Trevino says, "It seems the victim was distantly acquainted to the suspect." We're told the girl was lured out of her home, forced into a car, raped, and stabbed from head to toe. The young girl managed to crawl her way to a nearby home outside La Villa for help. Kathie Carlson was shocked to find the 14-year-old on her front porch. Carlson called for help. "She was naked," Carlson recalls. "Her hair all matted. She had blood on her." The Carlsons say they believe the girl walked up from across the street. They say the girl said he had been raped. "They were trying to kill her," Jimmy Carlson remembers the girl saying. He says, "She was gasping. She had air coming out of her throat somewhere." Hidalgo County investigators spent the morning gathering evidence. The Carlsons says they wish they could've done more. "I feel terrible that I didn't go out there, sit with her, console her. But I was afraid," says Kathie Carlson. She says she plans to keep up-to-date on the girl's condition. The 14-year-old girl remains in very critical condition at Knapp Medical Center. newschannel5.tv
