As someone who worked (among other trivial things there) filing papers at Fido when I was in college I can tell you that I "peeked" at what the fund managers were doing. :-) I don't think they can get away with it today but you'd be surprised (or not) how active some of the pm's traded their own personal accounts. Talking some serious $1B+++ fund mgrs daytrading on the side. Amazed me they had the time. Extent of compliance back then was this temporary $7/hour guy taking the stacks of broker reciepts and filing them. :-)
