I'm sure no expert on medicare, Tim, but I don't believe that's correct. My dad used to have a supplemental policy that would cover the amount in excess of Medicare payments up to some limit.

His cardiologist would charge some amount, Medicare would pay whatever they paid, then the supplemental would cover the rest, again, up to some limit. Whatever that excess amount was, it was above what Medicare allowed. That particular doctor was well known in the Ft Worth area, and he could get away with charging more than his peers. I do know that dad never paid anything out of pocket, except for the premiums on the supplemental policy.
