I can agree with you that terrorism is a problem that we have to take serious and manage. We should not bury our heads in the sand and pretend terrorism does not exist. That is no way to live. But fighting terrorism does not justify killing 50,000+ Iraqis who had nothing to do with the 9/11 attacks or spending incredible amounts of money fighting a global war on terrorism that has dubious benefits.

The two things we could clearly do to make us a lot safer from terrorism is:

1. Force Israel to settle their long simmering dispute and live in peace with the Palestinians

2. Withdrawl for the Middle East. We had a very small and managable arab terrorist problem, in other countries, before we started stationing troops in the Middle East in 1990 and killing arabs, which we've killed a lot since the Gulf War of 1991, 100,000s during that war, 1,000,000 via sanctions after the war and at least another 50,000 since we invaded Iraq. Get out of their business and they'll get out of ours, as things used to be.

I do honestly find it amazing the overwhelming emphasis terrorism gets from our government. I drive on a federal highway every day that has at least a half dozen glaring safety issues that threaten my existence. I am a lot more worried about the safety of that highway than what Osama Bin Laden is up to because I am a lot more likely to be killed or injured on that highway than from Bin Laden or one of his followers. Pramatism. Address the problems that really threaten you the most (which we don't).
