Not so quick... There may be more meat on that bone.

In our culture we began enforcing harmonious settlements some decades ago. Now we have Mandatory Arbitration in many arenas where disputes erupt. Is this at a cost of getting to the truth or in establishing justice? Young people, these days, are experts at mediation techniques that call for compromise and civility. How many value the tenaciousness of their ancestors who would fight to the death or sacrifice all material wealth for the sake of a principled cause? How many would take such a stand themselves?

Conflict is seen as a 'bad' out of control way of looking at things. We associate attacking, yelling, and unruliness with conflict. Yet isn't conflict a necessary stepping stone to true resolution of problems?

Criticism is associated with meanness. Yet isn't an honest critique essential to change, renewal, and growth?

There is of course room for negotiation when interests are competing but should we be replacing our pursuit of justice with a robotically calm demeanor?

The baton is yours...
