Rich, I saw the article and commented. I know what you are. FYI, i was never a zionist but always a strong supporter of Israel. The Judt article changes none of that. The Algeria parallel was striking to me. It doesnt change the fact that the arabs have caused most of this and brought it upon themselves but those of us who want a permanent solution to all of this are compelled now to explore new paths. If i new for certain that giving up all the settlements would usher in an age of peace and harmony between arab and jew, i would be for it in a heartbeat. I am not optimistic that thats the way it will play out, but I think israel should try if only to put the onus on the arabs and the pals who have been rejectionists since 1947 and before.
