Why do you prefer to use a debit card over a credit card?

For all the normal reasons. Because I keep my savings in places that are too hard to tap easily. Because this way I can't spend more than I have in currently available funds. Because this way I don't get interest charges nor late fees nor dings in my credit rating. To avoid temptation.

Also, I think merchants pay lower charges on debit rather than credit.
