I predict that after all is said and done TXN will be the loser. NOK "giving up" its CDMA license is nothing but another bargaining chip. The reason they are "exiting" the CDMA business right now is to further their patent counting scheme. When that is proved to be a failure they will relinquish and sign. Not only will they sign but I predict they will become a chipset buyer. Why bother to buy handsets from an ODM when you can make it yourself? Why pay the middle man? This is TXN's cue to wind it down. Write down the investment while you put out FUD. Soon they will walk through the door and proclaim a new reality. How are their "thin" form factors playing? Oh yeah, they don't have any. So they missed out on clam shells, thin form factors, and "named" phones rather than numbered gobblygook. Way to go NOK. You are a market leader. Blah, blah, blah. But hey, everyone wants a candybar. Ooops my "smoke" detector went off. Hmm, pass the pipe. Wish I were fly on that wall. You just know they are singing "let's do the time warp again." Way to go NOK you are the best.
