First, there several right wing groups whose agenda/intent is to have "liberal" (note this is different from "extremists") faculty members forced out of universities. Horowitz and Pipes are the most visible.

No I don't think it is different from extremists. No significant faction is trying to purge social democrats or similar liberals from academia. They might complain that universities are tilted to much in that direction, but the only attempts at anything that resemble a purge are against Ward Churchill and his ilk.

Second, that's quite similar to the intent of Ahmadinejad

Not just the power behind the intent, but the intent itself is very different. As I have pointed out. Not only is the target much narrower but the methods are very different. Yes in our nation getting the nation government to perform a purge isn't likely to happen, but that isn't the intent of most of the people we are talking about. Complaining about bias in universities, and even seeking to get the most extreme cases fired, isn't the same intent as calling for or desiring a government purge.

Third, the lack of respect for the traditions of academic freedom shown by the present administration in not commenting on that

Not commenting shows nothing. I don't think the administration has commented on American holocaust deniers either but that doesn't mean that the president thinks the Holocaust didn't happen or doesn't respect the suffering of the Holocaust's victims.
