Whole manufacturing/development teams have disappeared from certain companies- mostly (in the case I am familiar with) moved to India. We've invested in the Indian company that is getting all the design work. Now all they have here, at this unnamed company, are managers to coordinate the erooms that manage the technology transfer info.

Off shoring is still relatively small as a portion of the US economy. It takes quite a lot to be a noticeable part of a 14 figure economy.
