I've been meaning to read Pilgrim at Tinker Creek for some time, Teaching a Stone to Talk was one of those serendipitous finds in a used bookshop. When I saw that Edward Abbey and Buckminster Fuller had written blurbs for it, that was all the hook I needed.

I had done it once, and once was enough. Someone will come along eventually who will have 'it' again, someone who will see into things, the truth of things, really see them, like seeing into metal and making it melt, see it for what it really is and reveal it for what it is with hard words and vicious insight.

What artist currently recording is like that today? Merle Haggard?
