It doesn't make sense to say "because it worked in the 1980s and 1990s, it must still be the best way". The EU commission has changed the way that the worlds biggest car manufacturers manufacture, document and price-tag their products. They did the same to all other kinds of businesses, especially European businesses. Microsoft is handled more gently than a similar European company would be handled by the EU commission - but of course, they're pushing things to the edge, just as they always do, and the EU commission is not used to see companies that do not comply.
