I guess the mistake, then, is to call it a trial. Isn't it a sham to call it a trial if a defendant is denied access to the evidence against him or her? That sort of thing hearkens back to Soviet era trials. Do I hear echoes of Nazism, maybe a bit of Maoist jurisprudence.
