The movement I am talking about is the movement against people who say things like "911 was justified", or "Israel and the US are evil nations", and also against the socialist left. There might be some overlap between this group and the ID supporters but they aren't really the same group.

Actually, the movement of whom the most public figures are Horowitz and Pipes have had at least one important focus, academic programs focused on the middle east. And they've made criticism of Israeli policies a litmus test to go after faculty members.

I don't know how you can seriously analyse the middle east today without taking a critical stance relative to all parties, including the Israelis. Let alone as a faculty member attempting to encourage critical thinking and learning about the history and cultures and politics of the middle east.

What Horowitz and Pipes want, but thankfully can't yet get, are academic programs filled with their type of people.

Ann Coulter comes to mind as one with both views. Most people on the right lump Marx, Freud, and Darwin in the same box: left-wing atheists who were all wrong. Since Marx is generally considered defeated, and Freud in many quarters at least wacked down to size, the last great scoundrel of the 1800's is in the crosshairs. You should read more of the output from right-wing/Libertarian think tanks and see their views on ID. Most are at least somewhat supportive.
