I don't read it as a combined Opteron-Cell Blade.

There are Opteron blades with HTX
There are Cell blades with EIB.

They are still working on the interconnect between the two, but the article says (I think. Could be wrong.) that HTX will not be on the Cell Blades. Maybe the Cell Blades will have EIB and an HTX port. Maybe there will need to be another layer. Looks like that is still uncertain or secret.

But if Cell is a highly parrallelizable version of Power, How come IBM went with an Operton-Cell solution instead of Power-Cell. Possibly because Los Alamos said, "we've got x86 Code, Make it work on the next Super."
