It is not just Charlie. HKEPC and DailyTech also provided similar stories: first QC part will not be "128b FP / enhanced IPC" (what most people here consider the 'K8L'), but 'K8' (think Rev G) based.

Of course, it is in AMD's interest to have everyone think they'll remain more competitive than they might in 2007, so they can talk about enhanced IPC / 128b FP technology, and talk about a Q2 QC, all the while never actually saying that the former tech is in the latter product, but rather letting everyone make that assumption for a while. They can also use the term 'K8L' however they like.

I suppose an email to AMD IR might clear this up. It will be interesting to evaluate their response.

Actually AMD HAS mentioned a two-phase quad-core. THe first phase is the improved core, the second phase adds DDR3 and improved interconnect. Charlie is confused into thinking that the extra and faster HT links and the DDR3/FBDimm version is the first one with improved core. It's not.
