Where is the car made?

Components and subsystems for the car come from a variety of sources all over the world. Final assembly for the Tesla Roadster is in the UK.

SAN CARLOS?????
GIMME A BREAK!
THAT'S FROM THE COMPANY'S OWN WEB SITE!

You'd better get a mirror. The joke's on you! There seems to be a lot of speculation in PM that this is a scam on stupid Vulture Capitalists with too much money and too much confidence in themselves.

$100K apiece? And you think these are going drive Hondas and Toyotas off the road???

The San Carlos phone book shows a listing for "Tesla Motors". They are in the pink pages that list by business name. They have no entries under "Automobile Manufacturers and Distributors" or "Automobile Dealers- -New", so it can't be said what they do there.

However, their websites says only 100 cars have been sold to date. Considering we run tens of thousands of cars an hour on the freeways around here, they can hardly be said to be common.

And even you have to admit that at $100K a copy, the car won't be very common ever. They have to reduce that price by 75-80% to take on the likes of Toyota in volume.

"and climb behind the wheel of a hand-built $350,000 Development Prototype Tesla Roadster."

Development prototype doesn't mean available for purchase.

It might be available in a year, but Laz's point was that it isn't available now.

Re: "Electric sports car maker sells out its first round of cars"

from your link
"The $100,000 deposits guarantee that the buyers will get the cars, which will come out next year."

Again they will come out next year. The fact that people put a desposit on one doesn't mean they are available yet. Also the desposits were $100,000.
