Wait a minute....if I understand this ad, it contains public video of factual statements made by Reagan about Webb....and he can't use an ad featuring the President of the United States performing an act appropriate to the office of the President of the United States in which he speaks about Webb's history and personal talents....

Why is this wrong? Did it happen? If yes, why is it wrong? How would anyone consider this an endorsement by a man dead for years?

If someone serves their country and the guy who praises their service in his official capacity happens to be from a different political party, then the future candidate is precluded from having his history and skills explained in such an effective manner?

So, if Webb was still a republican the same rule would hold true? We can't know if Reagan would endorse him...so such an ad should not be run for any candidate, regardless of party affiliation....or do we just assume Reagan would endorse any republican?

Martin Luther King's family dragged his name through their own mud for years by claiming to possess him, and using their accidental relationship for personal gain.

In the end, they only got a pass for that because of the Great Exception we have established for American blacks.

The guy worked for Reagan. Nancy should have shut up YEARS ago...

Not sure I see what's supposed to be 'inappropriate' about it, Floppy.

As I understand, it's an actual historical video clip of the Gipper singing the praises of a man who served him in his administration.

(If, for example, Allen had worked for Reagan and Reagan had made a speech praising him and his service... would there be anything 'inappropriate' about Allen televising the clip?)

And, as far as the 'illegal' charge: maybe in the former Soviet Union, but I sure don't see any 'crime', LOL!, that could be charged here in the land of the free.

That's just HILARIOUS! (Good try by Ed. Meese though! And he's a man who should KNOW a THING or TWO about breaking laws! :-)
