A friend of mine almost died the same way...........her liver couldn't handle the blood flow ( due to cirrhosis ) so a blood vessel burst in her esophagus from the excess pressure. Her Dr. told her the hemorrhage was 1"inch from killing her. She never did stop hitting the booze and died 2 years ago from liver failure. Sad she couldn't save herself but she did what she wanted and lived life her own way. She was a Deadhead, pot lovin, blues lovin child of the sixties. Sandra Day O'Conner acquitted her and her first husband from a pot charge in Arizona before O'Conner became a Supreme COurt Justice. That made Maryanne proud.
