Coburn-Obama passed the Senate due to the shining of a tiny ray of sunlight on it by the blogoshpere. An accurate and timely web sight-searched constantly by bloggers who reveal its true obscenities to the world-will have an impact.

But the first fight may be over shoddy maintenance of the database by what is both its custodian and target: The federal government.

"Bridge to Nowhere" Ted Stevens has managed to make himself the SYMBOL of the too-old-too-senile too-stupid US Senate. He represents a condemnation of the entire body, and not just the sheer stupidity of Alaskans for allowing this 82-year-old doddering fool to stay in it. Stevens is, unfortunately, just tip of the scandalous iceberg created by the lack of term limits...

Coburn-Obama is a bit like the No Child Left Behind Act that blew up in Ted Kennedy's face.

That act didn't just do what was expected-reveal that teachers unions are spreading ignorance like a plague throughout America. It also showed that those same unions OWN state legislatures, and can get them lined up to oppose effective education in dozens of states.

That's what we would call a long-term unintended consequence.

Here's hoping the next Lawrence Welk Museum is world famous before a blueprint is even produced...
