Prolife's earlier post referred to Clinton's comment on additional sacrifice by paying more in taxes....I took your comment to refer to that statement rather than the statement about charitable giving.

Our taxes go for tons of stuff right now that might be considered charitable depending on how you wish to define that term. Foreign Aid, hurrican relief, food programs, Americorps, etc. etc.

My gripe with the republicans is that they keep claiming to be fiscal conservatives and warning us about the boogyman of the the "tax and spend" democrats while spending like drunken sailors (and I apoligize to the insult to all drunken sailors out there...they can only spend money they have!) while borrowing us into a big hole, then claiming progress when the deficit is projected to be ONLY 280 billion dollars!

If we can see where our tax money actually goes (open government, Coburn/Obama, limits on earmarks) I am sure everyone would feel better about paying it. But don't forget.....right now we are in the classic pay me now, pay me later syndrome. Debt is a bad thing.
