It's rubbish that interest rates are too high. I'm getting only 5.25% for my USD. That is holding ground against inflation, but not after taxes have first been taken off. Taxes feed straight back into the maw of those who dilute my money with more pixelation of extra $$, so they take a double bite.

5.25% is not a return on investment. It is at best a "Holding the line position while waiting for the evil day when the Aztecs dance on my grave or the happy Nirvana when the Qi takes over".

5.25% less a third = 3% Take off inflation of about 4% = about zero return on investment.
