Richard Engel NBC news iraq correspondent in iraq for the past 4 years was on Matthews sunday show. He had a very interesting and unique take on the war. He said things were gettting worse. He said he thought the civil war was on and the US role was now to contain the civil war and keep it on low level. He said iraqis would grow weary of civil war in 10 years. He indicated americans would suffer low level casualties on a continuing basis. But he also said US has interest in not letting neighborhood thugs like iran and syria from benefiting from complete collapse. Victory will occur in 10 years when civil war peters out and iraqis accept a looser federalism with borders between areas being determined by who controls what at the time the deal is brokered. I interpeted some of his remarks and expanded upon others. I suggest west coast folks should catch the show and draw your own conclusions. PS On same show Tucker said he was told or heard from iranians travelling with katami that iran expects a US bombing attack. Nothing more than that and no comments on any response.
