Agreed, he employs some conservative assumptions to simplify the calculations. It looks to me as though he also made some less than conservative assumptions that countered his conservative assumptions. <<< ... that it's going to be slower than free fall time >>> And it did fall slower than free fall. I'll eventually get around to finding the video that showed this the clearest. It was posted a few days ago by Tiger and your side of the argument seems to not want to believe their own eyes.
