Good for you. But you have rather sanctimoniously put down several for speculating and have even deemed speculation as unworthy for an investment board. So what is it?

For what it is worth, I think that might have been a factor. A larger factor, IMHO, was that David Cutter liked AMD64 and was confrontational about Intel coming out with yet another 64 bit instruction set that a) wasn't significantly different than AMD64 and b) probably had less than whole hearted support of Intel.

All only my speculation.
