my people watching interests have been reduced (or is it elevated) to trying to figure out who wears the most sensible shoes.

I suppose it's a sign of age if you consider women's shoes in terms of their utility rather than what they do for the leg. <g>

Seriously, IMO society would be much better off if we gave harmful shoes the same treatment we've been giving smoking--no longer cool.
