OT: The impact of The Secret History of 9/11 lies in its detail, so it's hard to summarize, but here are few lowlights. Basically there were a huge series of communication failures and system breakdowns. One example is that the FAA took 30 minutes to an hour to let the military each time they figured out they had a hijacked plane on their hands, so in every case the jets were scrambled too late to shoot them down. Similarly, a warning about potential hi-jackings four months before was not distributed to the air traffic controllers. As they are the early warning system for this type of incident, it is quite possible that even with the problems I mentioned above, the airliners would have been shot down before they got close to New York or Washington. Believe it or not, there was almost no communication between Bush and the White House during the entire incident, because the communications system in Washington overloaded and failed. They anded up relying on a cell phone some reporter had which could occasionally get through. And even more shocking, due to more operational screwups the military didn't even hear about Flight 93 until it was already down, so during the entire morning there were precisely zero jets protecting Washington. These examples just scratch the surface. As I said, the effectiveness of this documentary is that eschews conspiracy theories in favour detailing precisely what happened. LC
