HHAWK, COME ON, you are quoting Raphael Petai. LOL Ever read Petai's work? He DRAWS HEAVILY from Arab socioligists, Egyptians, Syrians, Palestinians in his writings. Effectively, in most places in the book, he takes Arab thinking, quotes it, and then uses it as an example. And in that manner, he brings light to a framework of some incisive and moderate Arab intellectualism that has found itself oppressed by this "hate/blame the west" mentality. Yep Saddam was number one fan of OBL and vise versa. Who's claiming that? I've certainly NEVER stated that either party "loved" or respected one another. But they CERTAINLY found common cause in attacking both the Saudis and the West for having permitted the "crusader forces" to be granted permission to enter "holy" Arabian territory. In essence, there was a TRUCE in place between Iraq and Al Qai'da. So all you care about is OIL and ISRAEL. Please stop fooling yourself by saying that you care and you want to spread democracy. I'm not going to sit here and try and convince anyone that I would be far less likely to give a crap about the plight of the muslim world if they weren't using the money we pay them for their oil to spread anti-west hatred, or to attempt to wipe out ANY other nation (not just Israel). You have this mistaken assumption that I'm somehow a sock puppet for the Israelis, and that's not the case. I'm as much of an advocate for Lebanese democracy and sovereignty as I am for the Jews. And I wouldn't advocate destroying ANY of the countries in the region (though some political changes are be in order). The ME is in worse shape than it was before BUSH pledged to turn it to democracy. Yeah... Guess you're getting ready to move to W. Virginia so you can snuggle with that idiot, Sen. Rockefeller. Yeah.. go right back to minority Sunni oppressing and dominating the Shi'a and Kurds..
