"But, since you bring up 'Neville Chamberlain', I can't help but point out that it was the GOP leadership in America at that point in time who sided with Mr. Chamberlain in his isolationist views... and the FDR Dems. who (mostly) did not. :-)" Some excellent books on the Taft/Vandingham isolationsists, and the America First movement. The traditional conservative views of the day were to avoid foreign entanglements at all costs....just like Lodge helped kill the Leage of Nations..nothing good ever came out of foreign involvement in those folks' views.
