The NIST report makes a distinction between the forces that that caused the initial failure, and the forces that collapsed through the remaining 80 floors.

This video clearly shows the side walls pulling in. It also shows that pieces of building began to come off just before the collapse. These falling chunks would have made quite a boom-boom sound as their struck the ground.

No kidding, that's exactly what you'd expect in a building collapse. Get a cream filled donut and smack down on it with your hand. I guarantee that the cream filling is "thrown rapidly outward".
