Most checks with component and subsystem vendors indicate seasonal demand patterns across three major vertical markets - Prudential

Prudential notes they spent the last three days visiting contacts in Asia, and most of the checks they did with component and subsystem vendors indicate seasonal demand patterns across three major vertical markets: PCs, handsets and consumer electronics. At the same time, most of the people they spoke with believe supply chain inventories are at healthy, if not lean, levels. They heard that Dell is still working out the kinks in the design of its AMD MPU-based desktop PC products. Firm does not expect Dell to generate any upside to our SepQ estimates for AMD. They heard that the wireless supply chain was seeing robust orders for MOT's Motofone. They heard of solid demand for power devices made by companies like STM and FCS for cellphones, LCDTVs and flat-panel monitors. Firm also notes VSEA owns dominant implant market share but ACLS making inroads, MTSN continues market share momentum in R.T.P. and CYMI is facing more competition from Gigaphoton.
