Oil was part of it. I do also believe that bush saw iraq as low hanging fruit to further show our resolve and establish that fledgling democracy that would change everything. Low hanging fruit became the fruit of the poison tree instead. As far as finishing the job in A, nah--there will always be an insurgency there and once again terrorism works its evil magic. Afganistan has a greater ability to fight it off than I though. As far as bin laden goes, I want him dead more than anything else, but with him escaping Tora Bora into the Pak/afgan no mans land, finding him became very problematic. We did get the bulk of the 9/11 plotters and we will just have to live with shady characters on the run in those border areas. Much like with UN criminals use to go to the Hole in the Wall area in mexico if that really existed. There are places the law just cant go.
