I would hope that a third party (likely a super power) would put forces here to keep things under control. You would? Wouldn't you like to be able to settle your own differences with Mexico and Canada? Besides bombing the middle east, we have meddled in the politics as well. Put the Shah in power, Staged coups. Brought Saddam in, then alternately supported and thwarted him as the situation dictated. Supported and protected the Saudi royals. Support of Israel in the war with Palestine and Egypt. More recently the US supplied Israel with the bombs dropped on Lebanon. It's a lot more than military presence that we brought to bear. It's total control of the politics and balance of powers in the region. I understand why some folks are pissed off and don't see the US as the White Knight riding in to save them from tyranny.
