We'd have no way of stopping it, and Earth might become nearly as hot as Venus. Temperatures on the plains of Venus often reach 850 degrees Fahrenheit.

Chris.. do you think this is the first time the earth has ever heated up?

Do some research into Paleo-Climatology instead of revealing your fear-mongering ignorance of the history of this planets climate over the previous millions of years of available data.

Here.. let me help you.

Please note that during the Holocene Maximum, temperature increases were much higher than they are today, YET the world did not turn into a "venus".

We're HARDLY at a level of temperature change that corresponds with previous periods of major warming. And notice that

What we have to remember is that the earth as been FAR MORE responsible for temperature variations than anything that man has possibly been responsible for in recent history. And whenever extremes are reached, mechanisms in earth's composition have restored the balance (even if going to the other extreme for a period of time).

What we face is a decision of whether we're going to be willing to perform "geo-engineering" techniques to PREVENT the earth from enduring any more temperature variations EVER.

Do you think we're powerful enough to prevent Mother Nature from spurring a warming or cooling trend? Can we prevent Mother Nature from ever initiating another global ice age?

That's what you should be considering, instead of coming up with "chicken-little" scenarios. The reality is that global warming might actually be a boom to much of the world, while being an catastrophe for others. If you live in a desert region, you might really enjoy the additional rain fall as ocean water evaporates and later precipitates on top of you..
But if you live near the ocean, you're going to be pretty upset that your (likely) very expensive home is now under water.
