The world is better off getting off oil. The oil companies have done very well with the supply slowing down and the uncertainty factor driving prices up. Stable supply is not the key here, but who controls that supply. What would you rather do? Sell 100 barrels for $10/barrel or 50 barrels for $70/barrel?

Doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that one.

As for settling the differences of the people in Palestine...they haven't really had a chance to solve these problems on their own...there's been a lot of input from others. It does appear that Palestine will continue to be a source of cheap labor for the Israeli-US backed machine. Equity will not occur over night. Poverty is deep in Palestine and self determination is not much more than a pipe dream. I was talking about true equity for all. That means that if a third party puts their thumb on only one side of the scale...equity cannot be achieved.

But the influence of Israel in the US is great. I understand that Chertoff, the director of FEMA and Homeland Security is a dual citizen of the US and Israel. That reveals a very close relationship between the US and Israel.
