Would water pipes work as well? Also no electrical interference, but I don't know if the water inside poses a problem. It may act kind of like an inside-out co-ax, which I'm guessing isn't ideal for these frequencies.

But attaching electrical equipment to your water pipe is more comforting than to your gas pipe...

Before cable TV systems came on the scene I used to mount what was called a TV antenna on peoples roofs. VHF and UHF.

They would accept a carry wave with the channel frequency's riding on it. The TV tuner would only allow the selected channel frequency thru.
Why couldn't they come up with something like it for the last mile?
