(EDITED) Brushwud, I remember seeing quad core (not dual core) as first next generation processor on an asian roadmap - not entirely trustworthy but still... Dual core was following about one and a half quarter later.

Recent information seems talks about QC (not DC) K8L's which might confirm the roadmap I saw.

Quad core seems most appropriate for servers. So that where I think first K8L will go.

Also QC will logically use the highest power envellope initially.

Plus server software is well threaded already.

I think that provided that the first K8L's are indeed QC's that we can safely conclude they'll go into servers first.
