The vile corruption in Washington concerning rebuilding and the horrendous cost of this foolish war in the blood of our own children and the hundreds of billions in wasted taxpayer dollars does indeed suggest that continued commitment is out of the question -- I agree. But I cannot help but wonder what would happen if we actually used some of the money we are now squandering in Iraq in a way that actually helped Iraqis to move forward. Once we puke up the thoroughly discredited approach we are now set on perhaps we can can salvage something if we develop an entirely new approach -- one aimed at actually helping whatever is left of Iraq. I don't deny that it will be long odds -- especially given the mess that has been made so far.
