At Colorado State University, for several decades, the Ag department has been creating a storage archive for native seeds (mostly grasses and grains). I am not an Ag or native plant scholar so that represents the limit of my knowledge about what they are doing.

I find some radical political types hard to deal with because some don't have the basic information that founds their politics. They remind me of religious extremists who haven't actually taken the time to study the doctrine of their own religion but want members of other religions to be converted or defeated.

I doubt one in a million non-CSU specialists who live on the plains of Colorado could identify a native grass from a non-native grass. I doubt that one in a thousand non-CSU specialist political radicals could do it. The beer barrel bandwagon, however, is loud with song and stocked with refreshments.

I am all for standards of health and safety and I am all for ethics in science and commercial development, but in front of that I am for reasoned discussion on the issues by informed persons.
