clapper-

you ask good dumb questions. actually, the story you linked
to seemed fairly objective in its reporting. my comment
about manufactured consent was probably driven more by the
huge number of those stories we are bombarded with every day
by the media.

there are only 24 hours in a day and there are enough of those
stories to last you all 24. i read enough to keep me in balance
and concerned and opposed to violence but not so many that it
makes life too painful and ugly for me and those around me.

man cannot live on horror stories alone. she also needs some
beauty, love and humor everyday to fuel the spirit and keep on truckin'.

now's here's some shocking news:

Jimmy Buffett Pays For Own Drink For First Time In 17 Years
September 14, 2006 | Issue 42•37

MIAMI BEACH, FL - Entertainment personality and novelty-song
writer Jimmy Buffett sustained confusion Monday after being
forced to hand over approximately $10 for an alcoholic
beverage he ordered at Miami Beach's Beachcombover's Dugout
Bar And Grill, an incident that had not occurred since the
late 1980s. "I'm still not sure how it happened - I ordered a
Long Island Iced Tea, drank it, and got up to leave as usual,
but then the bartender stopped me, and I didn't know what he
wanted me to do," said Buffett, 60, who composed a bitter yet
theoretically humorous ballad about the incident later that
day. "When he requested money for the drink, I thought, well,
that's reasonable. But then no one would give him any." Bar
staff said that perhaps the timing of the incident contributed
to Buffett's predicament, since during the day potential drink-
buyers typically spend their weekday afternoons managing shoe
stores, adjusting claims, or entering data.

"how would YOU report that there were 62 tortured victims found laying in the streets of Baghdad if you were a reporter assigned to the area?"

Might depend who you are working for. On Faux, you might end up saying "62 Iraqi Litterbugs Cluttering Capital City Streets Hauled Away."
