I do wonder why plant breeders put flavor is so far down their list of desirable characteristics. Because crop loss is expensive and salt is cheap.

I do wonder why plant breeders put flavor is so far down their list of desirable characteristics Cargill and ADM regard corn less as food and more as an industrial raw material. In Pollan's book he claims that 40% of what we see in a typical chain grocery store is corn-based or has corn additives.
