AMAT Applied Materials: Order outlook uncertain near-term; solar long-term positive opportunity - AmTech (17.34 )

AmTech says AMAT's near-term outlook is consistent with tehir view on the semi-cap equipment industry in general. Firm believes that the near-term order outlook is uncertain through the 2H06 with the earliest potential rebound by mid-2007. While solar panel manufacturing equipment is a new and important market for AMAT to drive growth long-term, firm believes it is still in the early stage for meaningful rev contribution for the co. Firm is reiterating their neutral stance on AMAT and on the semi equipment sector.

It only took a few days....

This convoluted logic would explain the recent semi equipment stock strength. Until the facts are spun differently, anyway.

Maybe the bullish tone to all the press lately was to boost AMAT's stock price before the big purchase. No, that can't be right.
