That's a great point about shorting stock but using calls to hedge against a rise. I hadn't thought about it being a way to use the foolishness of the call writers to hedge the short risk. I have a hard time thinking about buying calls here, but I suppose if they're giving them away, it's cheap portfolio insurance for a bear.

Of course, puts are so cheap, I'm thinking about getting some of them as well.
