If the Bush experience has taught us anything, it's that we need to work to make the bulk of Americans better informed, more critical, better educated, more skeptical and less likely to be jerked around by jingoistic, nationalistic emotional appeals by politicians. In the old days with one person in the family working 40 hours that would be easy. Now everybody in the household is working 60 hours to pay for TV's, computers, Ipods and other stuff... and spending the rest of the time playing with the stuff they are working all those hours for. Hard to get most people to care about politics... they get theirs from bumper stickers.
